Bush slams leak of terror financing info

Bush slams leak of terror financing info - 26 Jun 2006 at 8:20pm - WASHINGTON -- President Bush said Monday it was "disgraceful" that the news media had disclosed a secret CIA-Treasury program to track millions of financial records in search of terrorist suspects. The White House accused The New York Times of breaking a long tradition of keeping wartime secrets.

Why, assuming, as the White House claims, that all aspects of it are on the up-&-up, was this program secret in the first place? And what have efforts to track suspected terrorists' financial transactions to do with "wartime secrets"?

Bush, would love to bash the NYT...neglecting the other newspapers like the LA Times, and the Wall Street Journal...but that isnt even the point...the point is Bush all by himself, revealed this 'trolling" of banking records way back in Nov. 2001...as adirect response to "combating terrorism" which was already being initiated way before Bush even got to Washington........but not done apparently without the oversight of FISA

Right, lee -- the whitehouse should be thanking the NYT for the free publicity regarding an antiterror program that should make us all feel safer.
