Resistance
Officials lament lapsing of wiretap law - 23 Feb 2008 at 6:20am - WASHINGTON -- Two top Bush administration officials said Friday that some telecommunications companies are resisting wiretapping orders for terrorists because a surveillance law expired nearly a week ago.
So telecommunications companies are being asked to execute wiretaps that are illegal under existing laws? Or are they illegally refusing to carry out orders for wiretapping that would be allowable under existing laws? I'm having a hard time seeing how Congress is to blame, either way.
